Local SEO services, checked by hand

For businesses that serve an area: whether Google can tell what you do, where you do it, and that people know you.

Local SEO is how a business that serves an area gets found by the people nearby, in the map results and in the ordinary results under them. I work on it from the outside in, the same way I audit any site, and every finding is checked by hand before it reaches you.

Google publishes how it ranks local results, so that is where this page starts.

How Google decides local results

Google's help page for Business Profiles says: "Local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity." It also says: "There's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google."

Distance is where your customer is standing, so nobody can change it. Relevance and popularity (the same page calls it prominence) are where the work is: a profile and a site that say clearly what you do and where, and the signals that show other people know you, such as reviews and links from other websites.

What a local SEO audit checks

Three places, because Google reads all three, and they have to agree.

Your website
A name, address and phone number a crawler can read, a click-to-call link, a map, area pages that say something specific to the area, and LocalBusiness structured data.
Your Google Business Profile
That it is claimed and complete, in the right categories, and says the same thing as your site. You make the edits in the profile; I tell you which ones and why.
Everywhere else
Whether the directories and listings that mention you agree with each other, and whether anyone links to you or reviews you.

What local business sites get wrong

On an events and catering business in South India, the site gave a crawler no machine-readable address, no click-to-call link and no map, for a business that serves a local area. Its only enquiry form could not submit anything.

For The State of Chennai SME Websites 2026, I sampled 161 Chennai small-business websites from OpenStreetMap and audited 125 of them. Only aggregate figures are reported, and no business is named.

No structured data

Local SEO in Chennai and across India

I am based in Chennai and work remotely, so the area I can help with is wherever your customers are. Each area page is written for the place it serves; a page copied with only the city name swapped is not something I will recommend.

Two tool findings were dropped after byte-level re-testing — apparent text corruption was a missing charset header, not broken content.

Audit delivered; the site files were not accessible, so nothing has been implemented.

Questions people ask

What is local SEO?

The work that helps a business show up when people nearby search for what it does: its Google Business Profile, its website and its listings elsewhere, made complete, accurate and consistent with each other.

Is Google Business Profile part of SEO?

For a local business, yes. Google reads the profile and the website together when it decides what is relevant to a search, so a strong site with a thin profile, or the other way round, leaves results on the table.

How much does local SEO cost?

I do not publish prices yet. The first three to five findings on your site are free, and the local signals are among the first things checked.
